Heritage Society launches fundraising campaign

The East Antrim Battalion Heritage Society was formed in August 2019 with the aim: to make sure The Boys' Brigade East Antrim Battalion heritage is cherished, understood, shared, and enjoyed with pride by everyone.

To that end our vision is having premises to display our museum exhibition.

The Treasurer and one of the three trustees of the newly formed charity, Mr Donald Blair BEM stated, "We are delighted to gain charitable status and today we launched our fundraising campaign to help us lease premises in the short term so the community can visit our 140th Anniversary exhibition".

The Society has been operating for three years on a mobile basis, which is not sustainable in the longer term. We currently have 2,000 items, some of which are over one hundred years old, for display, and the absence of a permanent base, makes it difficult to exhibit.

Our objectives can be summarised under four headings - to protect our heritage, to promote the Society's activities, to build our capacity and to generate a sense of pride within the local community.
