BB Museum in Carrickfergus Forced to Close Premises - Urgent Search for New Location

5th March 2025 - Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland

The Boys' Brigade East Antrim Battalion Heritage Society (BBEABHS) has received the devastating news that its lease at 31a High Street, Carrickfergus, is coming to an end. As a result, the BB Museum must vacate the premises and will close its doors on Thursday, 13th March 2025.

The museum will be open for the final time from 10 AM to 12 PM on that day, followed by the BBEABHS Annual General Meeting at 2-30PM, after which the process of dismantling the museum will begin.

Drew Buchanan MBE, Chair of Trustees, expressed his deep disappointment at the news: "This is a heartbreaking moment for us. We have worked tirelessly to create a space where people can connect with the rich heritage of The Boys' Brigade, and now we face the urgent challenge of finding a new home. However, we remain determined to keep this history alive and accessible to the public."

The Trustees are now actively searching for alternative premises and are committed to ensuring that the museum can reopen as soon as possible. The Society hopes to be operational again by mid-April. The BBEABHS would like to thank all visitors, supporters, and volunteers for their understanding and encouragement during this difficult time.

Updates on the museum's future location and reopening plans will be shared via social media and the official website.
